This is a guide to the essential things to inspect before taking your car out on the track. The safety of your vehicle is your responsibility. You can get track inspections done at most motorsport-focused auto shops.
Driver
Helmet: 2015SA or newer, no cracks in helmet or visor, chin straps in good condition
Clothing: Closed toe shoes, cotton long sleeve shirts, long socks, and long pants recommended
Safety: Head and neck restraints present if using a harness system
Car
Wheels and Suspension
Wheel bearings tight, free rotation
Wheel lugs properly torqued to spec when cold
Tires in good condition, no cracks or cords showing, adequate tread depth
Body
No cracks in windshield, clear view
Front tow hook, rear highly recommended as well
No leaking fluid (e.g. oil, coolant)
Gas cap secure
Body in good condition, no structural damage, no loose parts
Trunk and hood lids secure
Brake lights functional
Roll bar present if convertible or open top car without factory roll over protection
Hoses secured and not cracked
Interior
No loose objects in the car, all cameras and GPS devices securely mounted
Pedals in good operating condition, firm brake pedal and travel
Harness systems certified, SFI or FIA approved
Seat belts in good condition, not frayed
Brakes
Recent brake bleed, high performance brake fluid recommended
Brake pads at least 50% life remaining
Rotors not damaged, appropriate thickness remaining, no cracks
Brake lines free of cracks or damage
Misc
Battery secure and in good condition, terminals covered
Fire extinguisher, if mounted, fully charged and secured
Car numbers present if required for the event
